Does Getting an Implant Denture Hurt?

In the following video, Brent Bradford, DDS, discusses the minimal discomfort typically experienced during the placement of a dental implant-supported denture.

When it comes to getting an implant-retained denture, it’s natural to wonder about the level of discomfort involved. While there is some discomfort due to the placement of an implant through the gum into the bone, it’s significantly less invasive and uncomfortable compared to getting a conventional implant.

Mini implants have a small diameter, and there’s no need to cut into the tissue, which reduces the pain involved. The implants are inserted, and then the denture is fitted over them. The discomfort felt is typically mild, akin to a headache, and can be managed with over-the-counter pain relief like Tylenol.

We also provide an ice pack to minimize any swelling. Most patients report feeling much better the day after the procedure, often expressing surprise at the minimal discomfort they experienced. They are pleased with how well their dentures fit and stay in place. To learn more and see how this could work for you, please reach out to us for a free consultation.
