According to the CDC, more than 1 in 7 adults 65 and up are experiencing total tooth loss. Many of these adults are likely considering dental implant replacement methods, as they provide far superior stability to traditional dentures. However, implant dentures are known for their high cost and extensive procedures, driving many patients like you away from restoring their smile. Fortunately, Dr. Brent Bradford has a solution!
Dr. Bradford utilizes mini dental implants to stabilize your denture. These are the sleeker and smaller versions of conventional dental implants. Amazingly, mini implants anchor your smile in place at a much more affordable price. With the cost of these implant-supported dentures, you can restore your ability to speak and chew while on a budget.
The Cost of Implant Dentures
Dental implants are screws of titanium that secure in your jawbone to replace missing teeth. Because titanium is a biocompatible material, these screws bond with your bone over time, creating an incredibly strong connection. Then, when anchoring a crown, bridge, or denture in place, these implants restore your smile’s function!
Conventional dental implants are large, around 5 mm in diameter. Thanks to their size, Dr. Bradford needs to make an incision in your gums to access your jawbone underneath. Then, he uses a series of large drills to create a hole in your bone, large enough to fit the implant body. With the implant screw in place, Dr. Bradford will stitch your gums closed to facilitate healing.
After a few months of healing, he’ll reopen the incision to place the abutment, which connects your denture to your implants. Then, after another period of healing, he’ll be able to anchor your final denture in place to restore your smile!
However, it’s essential to note that many patients require additional procedures to rebuild their bone, as conventional implants need a substantial amount of healthy bone structure for support. With additional procedures, multiple components, and various appointments over a period of 6 to 9 months, these implants are pretty expensive.
Fortunately, Dr. Bradford offers another, much more affordable solution!
The Cost of Mini Implant Dentures
Mini dental implants are much smaller, less than 3 mm in diameter. Additionally, they feature a unique one-piece design that allows Dr. Bradford to use a simpler placement system, requiring less bone.
This minimally invasive procedure doesn’t require any incisions or stitches. Instead, Dr. Bradford creates a small pilot hole in your gums and jaw. Then, after gently screwing the implant in place, your titanium post will immediately begin to stabilize!
With mini implant dentures, Dr. Bradford makes sure to have your custom denture crafted ahead of your appointment. By the time you arrive for your implant placement, your denture will be ready to secure on your implants! In just one day, you can walk into his office missing all of your teeth and leave with a fully restored smile.
Mini implants have fewer components to pay for, fewer appointments, and rarely require additional procedures to rebuild bone. In most cases, mini implant dentures cost much less than their conventional counterparts! For those seeking even more ways to make your denture cost affordable, Dr. Bradford offers flexible financing plans! These plans help break down your costs into manageable monthly payments.
Our Mini Implant Dentures
At Brent Bradford, DDS, Dr. Bradford has three distinct denture options to choose from. These include:
- Snap-on overdentures: Unlike traditional dentures, these prosthetics are supported by 4 to 8 mini implants. However, you can still remove them like traditional dentures for easy maintenance! Simply “snap” your overdentures off of their implants to clean them after you eat. Then, “snap” them back into place when you’re done. Sometimes, if your original denture is in good condition, we may even be able to transform it into a snap-on overdenture by adding mini implants to its structure! This option is the most affordable of the three.
-
A semi-removable roundhouse bridge secures on 6 to 10 mini implants. Semi-removable roundhouse bridges: A roundhouse bridge is a row of teeth that form a horseshoe shape, following the natural arch of your jaw. Unlike snap-on overdentures, a semi-removable roundhouse bridge has a sleeker design, losing some of the bulky denture base common in traditional dentures. This design frees your upper palate and secures directly on 6 to 10 implants. However, it’s important to note that while we’ll remove this prosthetic at routine dental visists, you will never remove it at home.
- Non-removable roundhouse bridges: For those looking for the most secure prosthetic, rivaling the strength and stability of your natural smile, Dr. Bradford recommends non-removable roundhouse bridges. These prosthetics are permanently cemented on 10 to 12 mini implants and are never removed. Instead, they stay secure on your smile, allowing you to eat all the foods you want with no hesitation! Additionally, we may even be able to remove the denture base altogether, giving your smile an incredibly natural look and feel.
